Morocco has seen a significant rise in tourism, with more than 7 million visitors during the first half of 2024, marking a 14% increase compared to the same period last year. This impressive growth, highlighted by the Moroccan Ministry of Tourism, surpasses pre-pandemic levels, showing a 38% increase over 2019 figures.
In June alone, the country welcomed a record 1.5 million tourists, a 10% increase from 2023. Minister of Tourism Fatima Zahra Ammor credits Morocco's unique appeal and the effective implementation of the tourism roadmap for this success.
Looking ahead, Morocco is on track to attract 15 million tourists by the end of the year, with ambitions to reach 26 million by 2030. The tourism sector remains a cornerstone of Morocco's economy, with foreign currency travel revenue hitting $3.2 billion by the end of April 2024. Ammor emphasized that Morocco will continue to enhance its offerings, aiming to generate 120 billion dirhams ($12 billion) by 2026.
